our client’s challenge

Building staff confidence through learning

The client had a strong education culture, regularly offering sales training and product knowledge workshops, but realised sustainability was missing from their internal programmes. Their teams interacted with customers daily but lacked the confidence or tools to discuss topics such as materials or environmental impact.

They needed training that would build a solid foundation in sustainability and inspire meaningful engagement across different product categories.

The challenge lay in designing a programme that could resonate with teams across various departments while also accommodating different levels of prior knowledge.

how we helped

A tailored, hands-on training series

We designed and delivered a 3-hour in-person training experience tailored to the needs of department store staff. Delivered in 22 sessions, the training reached 182 employees across fashion, beauty, and home teams.

Each session combined clear, accessible content with practical group activities. Participants learned how materials and ingredients are made, what common sustainability risks look like, and how to spot meaningful certifications.

They then applied what they learned by analysing fictive products, proposing improvements, and crafting sales pitches for real-world customer conversations.

To ensure relevance for all departments, we created room for dialogue and made space for questions throughout.

what our client gained

Inspiring customers through sustainability insights

Creating cross-department connections

Bringing clarity to complex topics

Staff left the sessions with practical knowledge they could use immediately, in sales conversations, in product decisions, and in their own lives.

In-person sessions encouraged conversation and collaboration across departments that rarely got to interact. Participants brought different experiences to the table, creating space for shared insight.

Participants found the course content clear, actionable, and memorable. Complex topics, like certifications, supply chains, and material impact, were made relevant and easy to grasp.

the impact

Practical knowledge, immediate results

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with the sessions averaging a feedback score of 9.08/10 across all groups. Staff reported feeling more informed, inspired, and better able to communicate with customers.

Many said they would take the lessons home with them too, adjusting their own consumption habits, and sharing what they’d learned with colleagues, friends, and family.
