our client’s challenge

Traceability is complex, and urgent

Traceability isn’t optional anymore. With the incoming French Eco-Score requirements, brands are expected to measure and disclose environmental impacts across the full product life cycle.

The client understood the stakes and asked us to lead the process. That meant navigating a platform integration and figuring out how to collect the right data from the right tiers.

Even for a brand with relatively good supply chain visibility, going beyond Tier 2 revealed just how fragmented the information was.

We also needed to ensure the solution would support broader sustainability goals, from forced labour prevention to ecosystem protection, not just compliance.

how we helped

Choosing and implementing the right platform

We started by benchmarking leading traceability platforms, identifying the best fit based on features, compliance capabilities, and relevance to French regulation. After presenting our recommendation to management, we supported onboarding and coordinated with the platform provider to get the data flowing.

The chosen platform followed France’s official Eco-Score methodology and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF)-aligned Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculations, covering 16 categories such as water use, toxicity, and circularity. We worked closely with the Production Coordinator and Studio Manager to enter data, interpret platform outputs, and communicate insights back to the brand.

Along the way, we also filled in knowledge gaps, explained key logistics and tier definitions, and surfaced unexpected findings, from regenerative fibres already in use to overlooked certifications and high-performing recycled materials.

what our client gained

Traceability reveals more than you think

Eco-score calculations aren’t plug-and-play

Compliance meets strategy

Even the client was surprised by what the data revealed. Materials they assumed were “bad” performed better than expected, and vice versa. The platform helped shift internal perceptions and highlighted areas for opportunity.

Preparing for environmental scoring means understanding complex methodology, defining main components (by weight), and gathering certifications and documentation across multiple tiers. We translated technical requirements and made a complex process feel manageable.

While the driver was regulatory, the value extended beyond. The traceability platform is now also a tool for supplier monitoring and sustainability progress.

the impact

A compliant, connected supply chain

The platform is now fully implemented, key product data has been collected, and Eco-Score calculations are underway. The client has clearer insight into their sourcing practices, strengthened documentation, and a roadmap for digital product passport readiness, all with confidence that they’ve started early and well.
